The jury agreed with plaintiff's attorneys' arguments that Susan Kamuda's breast cancer was caused by Sterigenics decades long ethylene oxide emissions and awarded her $38 million in compensatory damages and $325 million in punitive damages. The size of the verdict will have an impact on future toxic tort cases.
