Aaron W. Rapier

Aaron W. Rapier is one of the Collins Law Firm's senior associates.  His practice focuses on sophisticated environmental issues,
catastrophic personal injury,  and wrongful death cases.  This typically involves:
  • Cancer-causing pollutants in drinking water supplies;
  • Exposures to toxic molds; and
  • The devastating effects of environmental nuisances on the market value and use and enjoyment of residential properties.

Aaron represents individuals and families injured by landfills, commercial developments, and industrial facilities.  Aaron’s
experience includes representation of individuals exposed to TCE, PCE, arsenic, vinyl chloride, benzene, and stachybotrys and
aspergillus-type molds.

Aaron is currently handling a variety of other important cases too, including:
  • A Cook County, Illinois lawsuit on behalf of a woman whose legs required amputation after the surgeon and hospital staff
    failed to timely diagnose and repair an occluded graft;
  • A Third District appeal from a seven figure jury verdict in favor of the Firm’s client in Knox County, Illinois; the case
    received national attention after a jury found that a college’s failure to provide reasonable security measures caused a
    student’s death on campus; and
  • A Cook County, Illinois lawsuit on behalf of a family whose lives were forever changed by a slip and fall at a bottling
    facility that caused the Firm’s client to suffer amnesia.

Aaron recently settled a lawsuit on behalf of a family whose home was ruined after an adjacent development caused repeated
flooding and consequent toxic mold growth.

Aaron recently filed another lawsuit on behalf of residents whose homes flooded after developers altered the natrual drainage of
storm water.

Aaron attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, where he graduated cum laude.  While at Marycrest, Aaron spent two
semesters in Europe, played varsity soccer, participated in student government and captained the mock trial team.  Aaron's juris
doctor is from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he received the CALI award for highest
honors in trial advocacy.

Aaron’s law degree has been used to help individuals pro bono. Aaron has filed an amicus curie brief with the United States
Supreme Court on the constitutionality of Florida's former capital punishment law; volunteered as a judge in mock trial and moot
court competitions; and represented families with disabled children whose medically necessary therapies were denied by
insurance carriers.  Aaron has been active in Easter Seals DuPage, where he has volunteered his time and served as a member of
the Development Committee and Associate Board.

Aaron is admitted to practice law in all Illinois state courts, as well as in the United States District Court for the Northern District
of Illinois.  Aaron is a member of the Federal Trial Bar.
